St John’s Wort — trying a new brand

The St John’s Wort that I’m on right now is finishing soon.

I tried reordering on the online store of the pharmacy / drug store chain here but… they’re out of stock!!! 🙁

I suspect they may be permanently out of stock, since the last I tried to buy it personally from stores here, the salesladies told me they either don’t carry it anymore, or they’re out of stock. Really strange. Maybe there is no demand for it in my country.

So I decide to google if other online stores have it. And then I chance upon iHerb! Wow, they sure have a HUGE selection of… everything (drug store-related)!

After browsing various brands, ingredients, considering the supplement form (capsules vs tablets) and reading reviews on iHerb’s selection of St John’s Wort, I finally chose Nature’s Way, St. John’s Wort, Standardized.

Nature's Way St. John's Wort

Nature’s Way St. John’s Wort

What I liked about Nature’s Way, St. John’s Wort is also that they have other ingredients in there that are good for you:
Rosemary (leaf)
Spirulina (algae)

Serving Size: 1 Veg Capsule Amount/Serving
St. John’s Wort Extract
(stem, leaf, flower) 0.3% dianthrones measured as hypericin (0.9 mg)
300 mg
Rosemary (leaf) 80 mg
Spirulina (algae) 40 mg

Not sure why it says the capsule is made of gelatin on iHerb, but on the Nature’s Way website, it says it’s a plant-derived capsule (modified cellulose). I shall find out when my bottle arrives.

I chose the 90 capsule one because I’m taking only 1/3 of the recommended of 3 capsules daily (i.e., one 300mg capsule per day), and so I’d have this new bottle for 3 months. Thought to ensure the capsules are kept “fresh” by ordering a small quantity. I’ll be opening and closing the bottle for 3 months, that’s a long time. So far, I take less than the recommended dosage because I’m afraid of side effects if I take the full dosage. I do feel the effects even with one capsule. I’m not sure if I feel more positive per se, but at least my mood is neutralised, and I don’t feel… “unmotivated by life”.

The best thing about my discovery is that I can give discounts of USD$5 to new customers!

Would you like USD$5 off your purchase on iHerb??

Then use my coupon code: NLK140 !!!

Knowing how affordable prices are on iHerb, $5 is a significant discount. It could even be nearly 50% off!

I also get $5 credit when I “give” $5 discounts. So, I’ll scratch your back, and you end up scratching mine. It’s win-win 🙂

International shipping? No problem

I was concerned about shipping costs, since I live in Asia. I found out iHerb has very reasonable rates for international shipping. See more info on shipping here. On the shopping cart page, the amount chargeable for shipping was stated clearly before I confirmed my order. So that gave me peace of mind as well.

If you are already using iHerb, or are looking for alternative cures to Depression, do check out Nature’s Way, St. John’s Wort and see if it is worth your time.

I will write a review after I’ve actually tried it.

So, remember to use coupon code NLK140 to get $5 off your purchase on iHerb! 🙂
